Stage One: Basic
This programme will raise the awareness of the hazard and dangers associated with electrical equipment and machinery. Successful completion will mean the delegate will be able to demonstrate safe methods of work accordingly.
Course Content
Basic Electrical Principles
Use of multimeter and insulation resistance tester
Single and Three-Phase supply systems
Review of different types of protective devices
Earthing and Bonding
Safe Isolation procedures
Note: A basic electrical programme can be developed for any duration up to five days. An IPB Training Certificate of Competence would be awarded in this case.

Stage Two: Intermediate
This programme is designed for delegates who have completed the Stage One Basic course or who can demonstrate the knowledge and understanding, and can be assessed practically against that criteria. The training is of a high practical content and will allow the delegate to perform additional electrical skills safely and competently.

Introduction to variable speed devices
Overview of Electricity at Work and IEE Wiring Regulations

Stage Three: Advanced
This programme is designed for delegates who have completed the Stage Two course.
Content
Testing and Fault Finding on Three-Phase motor circuits
Review of different types of electrical sensors
Build and fault find on simple relay circuits
Cable selection exercise (IEE Wiring Regulations)
Reading electrical drawings
Comprehensive review of Stages One and Two
Safe Isolation procedures
Certification: City & Guilds Certificate in
Electrical Maintenance Skills
