portable appliance testing ( PAT )

Target Group: Those involved in management or administration of Portable
Appliance Testing or in practical testing of Portable  Appliances.

This programme is designed to ensure that delegates are familiar with the use of the Institute of Electrical Engineer’s code of practice for In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment. In addition, it provides an awareness of the scope and implications of the electricity at work regulations.

For this programme, delegates must have basic electrical competence or successfully complete a pre-assessment course if necessary.

Both the above courses are followed by a City and Guilds on-line examination,
with the provisional results available immediately afterwards.
